Imagine time traveling back to 1990, moments before the release of the first web browser. It would have been impossible to envision all of the things we use the web for today. In hindsight, we now see zillions of uses for it in our every day work and life. The open metaverse has a zillion more uses just waiting to be discovered.
Like the World Wide Web, the metaverse will require countless new software programs that help creators and developers invent, construct, navigate, and maintain the augmented and virtual worlds that we inhabit. A few of these tools have already been started. Others have yet to even be thought of. Learn more.
Spatial fabrics make up the building blocks of the metaverse, each representing a portion of the coordinate system from deep space to sub-atomic particles. These places can be digital twins of real places here on Earth or imaginary star systems located in galaxies far, faw away. Learn more.
While the metaverse probably won't build itself, AI can make it seem like it will. Whether it's bringing to life digital assistants or pets with their own, customizable personaliy, or terraforming planets with life-like precision, AI will no doubt be instrumental in filling in the infinite spaces of the metaverse. Learn more.
Join us at the Frontier Tower on Saturday and Sunday to experience the thrill of the competition in person. Meet with all of the host and sponsor team members, gain insight during several live workshops, eat some delicious food, and have fun. Immediately following the competition will be an award ceremony where we present awards for the best programs and an industry mixer, where you can meet and greet a few hundred of the brightest minds in the XR community.
The contest officially starts at 12 pm on Saturday and ends ot 4pm on Sunday. Minus one hour lost for the jump to Daylight Savings Time, that leaves only 27 hours to complete your project. However, anyone wishing to get a jump on coding may do so now and submit a project with a Head Start in any of the above three tracks. You will be judged, however, based on the progress you made only during the official competition hours. You'll need to register your project starting point during the registration process.
For those who can't make it to San Francisco in person for the competition, we welcome your participation remotely. You may submit your project in any of the above three tracks choosing to start at the official start time along with the other in-person participants, or you may choose to submit with a Head Start as described above. Note that Remote sbmissions will be judged separately and acknowledged online during the following week.
